Rubbish has been left strewn across the footpath of Mudlo Street in Port Douglas after vandals struck overnight.

Several wheelie bins were destroyed by the mini-rampage, which took place last night, according to online reports by Douglas Shire residents.

Shannon Clark wrote that he saw that the incident had taken place before the sun had come up this morning.

“This had all happened before I drove past at 11pm last night,” local musician Mr Clark wrote.

Another resident said a similar incident had taken place in Coral Drive recently.

Online comments at Newsport were critical of the vandalism.

“Typical, so much senseless stuff happening in this world and it’s getting worse,” Wayne Postlewaight wrote.

Rita Ange: “Absolutely disgusting behaviour! Hope there's CCTV footage.”
