A 12-year-old boy has died after crashing his e-scooter into a parked car in Mareeba last night.

At between 10.30pm and 10.50pm yesterday (Tuesday, June 10), the boy was travelling along Strattmann Street when he hit the vehicle.

Emergency services rushed to the scene and started CPR, but the boy was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Cairns Forensic Crash Unit Police is appealing for anyone who may have relevant information or camera footage to contact Policelink at police.qld.gov.au/reporting.

Investigations are ongoing.
