Life sentence delivered for convicted Toyah Cordingley murderer

Former Innisfail nurse Rajwinder Singh has been sentenced to life imprisonment with a 25-year non-parole period for the murder of Toyah Cordingley at Wangetti Beach seven years ago.

The verdict was handed down today in the Cairns Supreme Court after an about month-long trial culminated yesterday with the jury handing down a unanimous guilty verdict against the 41-year-old after about seven hours of deliberation.
A former Paws and Claws animal shelter volunteer, Ms Cordingley was murdered on the afternoon of Sunday, October 21, 2018, at the remote beach, about 30km south of Port Douglas.
Ms Cordingley’s body was found buried in a shallow grave at the beach the next day by her father Troy.
This retrial took place after Singh's original trial earlier this year ended in a hung jury.
